How was your 2012? I hope it was great. It was a good year for me. It was a good year for permanent makeup.
Because of the fast-paced daily lifestyle we lead across America, the popularity of permanent makeup continues to make its way deeper into the mainstream of society. Now it is a widespread sought after cosmetic solution for everyone from college students to corporate executives, beauty industry professionals such as hairdressers and nail technicians, to body art tattoo artists and medical professionals. But micropigmentation or permanent cosmetics as it is also known, works just as well for all those women at home, too, from moms to housewives, and yes even grandmothers. Women from all walks of life are commonly stepping up to get this long-term enhancement of their every day appearance.
If there is one trend I am noticing in my permanent makeup locations in Scottsdale, Memphis, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, it is the increasing demand for permanent lip makeup. Eyebrow tattoos are still my most popular procedure (many get permanent eyeliner at the same time). But more women seem to be licking their lips at the thought of having consistently looking, fuller, sexy lips.
Is there anything wrong with wanting to look and feel better about yourself? Is there anything wrong with wanting to look more youthful, vibrant, and balanced? Absolutely not.
We live in an appearance-driven world where like it or not we are constantly judged positively or negatively for how we look, not just for who we are. And given the active lifestyles we try to maintain as modern women, finding a long-term way to save time and effort to look your personal best seems like a pretty doggone good idea.
Another reality is we can never seem to have too much beauty today. As we saw in 2012, there were a number of tragic events which left scars on us even cosmetic camouflage could not take away. From the massive devastation of Super Storm Sandy to the heartbreaking senseless tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, we are reminded how quickly life changes, how quickly it goes by, how those we love (including ourselves) should be valued at all times, and how we are masters of our own destiny who are responsible for our own results and our own happiness.
There is no downside to wanting to look and feel your best. There is no downside to striving to grow and improve. There is no downside to adding beauty and happiness to your life in ways big and small.
I hope you don’t find 13 to be an unlucky number. Your thoughts are powerful in either a positive or negative way. I’m looking at 2013 being the best year of my life, and the best year of my long career in permanent makeup.
For me there is no downside to wanting more of the magic moments I enjoy every time I hand a mirror to a client at the end of a procedure for her to see her newly enhanced appearance. In your world and in mine, we can never see enough smiles.
So as another new year rolls around, please accept my sincere best wishes for you to find anything and everything which helps you to love who and what you see in the mirror.
