micropigment Like everything in life Valentine’s Day is what you make of it:
tattoo ink The day can be a happy, magical celebration between lovers.
It can be February 14th, a total non-event for some.
And for others Valentine’s Day can create a personal 24-hour re-enactment of the Great Depression or encore performance of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
I have permanent makeup clients in each of my Scottsdale, AZ, New York, NY, Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV locations who fit into each of the categories above on this Valentine’s Day 2012. I am grateful for all of them and wish all of them the greatest of happiness on this day.
When my husband Guy was alive, Valentine’s Day wasn’t a big deal for us. We used to go to a restaurant for dinner. Guy also felt like he had to get me roses that day. I didn’t think so. We got to a point where we planted rose bushes in the yard instead. Besides, we strived to make every day like Valentine’s Day.
Cupid Endorses Sally Hayes Permanent Makeup?
While Cupid, the mythological god of desire and erotic love gets a lot of credit, no one ever said the little guy’s aim with a bow and arrow was perfect. But as the years go by, he does seem to be improving his accuracy through the use of mirrors.
You see, as a permanent makeup artist, Cupid’s arrows seem to be showing up more and more around Valentine’s Day with women looking in the mirror and finding new ways to love themselves more. Some women feel better with permanent lip makeup for thicker, fuller looking lips. Some express love for themselves through the gift of permanent eyebrows, a key for all of our facial expressions. Some enjoy the freedom permanent eyeliner gives them from the daily drudge of their pencil. And for most, enjoying the fresher and more youthful look is a bonus.
For various reasons I see women expressing their inner most wants and needs by “treating” themselves to permanent makeup around Valentine’s Day. Today, I had a couple come in because permanent eyeliner was a gift for the bride from the bride for their upcoming wedding. (Gifts of permanent makeup from husbands and boyfriends are also on the rise, and why not? It’s for about the same price as guys pay for a dozen long stem roses in many places on Valentine’s Day!)
Permanent makeup isn’t for everyone. I get it. Some women want the benefits of a great, consistent look while also saving time, effort, and stress on their daily makeup routine. But the idea of cosmetic tattooing or the fear of bad permanent makeup jobs by unqualified, inexperienced artists keeps them away.
I’m happy permanent makeup is growing in popularity around Valentine’s Day. I love what I do in helping clients. And I still love every time I see a woman in my chair hold a mirror up to her face when we’re done…and fall in love with her appearance all over again, or for the first time in a long time.
Whatever is right for you, whether or not it has anything to do with permanent makeup, I hope you take action or take a moment to be in love with yourself on or around this Valentine’s Day.
