Happy 100th Birthday/Anniversary Arizona! Yes, while it is Valentine’s Day, today also happens to kick off the Centennial Celebration of Arizona. 100 years ago Arizona became the 48th state in the union.

Don’t be confused by the title of this blog post. Actually, I’ve been a working permanent makeup Arizona girl for only one quarter of a century.
I read where it took 55 minutes for the news of President William Taft’s historic Arizona Statehood proclamation signing in Washington to reach Phoenix, arriving via telegraph at the main station inside the railroad depot. Today, it would be live on TV, and then instantly spreading like wildfire across the desert via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, email, and other social media outlets. It’s an example of one of the countless ways life and the state of Arizona have undergone major facelifts in the past century.
In working today at my permanent makeup Scottsdale location, it seems I am celebrating my own example of the melting pot of America being alive and well in the state of Arizona 100 years later. I started off doing permanent eyeliner and permanent eyebrows on a caucasian woman from Wisconsin. I’m also doing eyebrow tattoos on an African-American mother – daughter duo today. Then there’s permanent eyeliner procedures on an Asian woman and a Hispanic woman, and a few more
permanent eyebrows and re-touches on other Arizona women from Phoenix to
Tucson.
Today at 100 the state of Arizona the weather forecast said we might celebrate with some rare rainfall. But here in the Valley of the Sun, one thing hasn’t changed in the past 100 years and won’t likely change in the next 100 years…we know never to count on rain until we actually see or feel it falling.
